During October and November 2021, there will be intermittent delays and possible temporary closures that may affect Big Rock Trail and Corn Mill Shoals Trail out of the Corn Mill Shoals access area in DuPont State Recreational Forest. Due to equipment in the narrow trail bed and in the interest of public safety, movement through this area may be delayed or prohibited. Visitors are encouraged to adjust plans and routes for this section of the forest and expect the possibility of closures or delays. Pay attention to any signage or barricades in the trail and at the parking lot kiosks. Trail closure updates are available at www.dupontstaterecreationalforest.com
A timber harvest in the Guion Farm area of DuPont State Recreational Forest will begin Nov. 29, 2021. Harvesting equipment and log trucks will be used on the forest during the harvesting operation which could last until April 30, 2022. In the interest of public safety, several roads and trails will be subject to temporary detours and closures during the harvest. Detours and closures will impact Hickory Mountain Road, Boundary Trail, Guion Trail, Hooker Creek Trail, Rifle Trail and White Pine Trail. Forest visitors are asked to remain alert and respect temporary closures and detours when they occur.
