Staircase at Triple Falls is closed. For your safety, please respect all barricades and closure notices and view Triple Falls from the trail.

Grassy Creek Trail will be closed beginning March 3rd to accommodate major trail work. The trail should reopen during the first week of April. Please be safe and choose a different trail during this closure.

Flatwoods Trail is closed to accommodate timber activity. Please be safe and choose a different trail.

Farmhouse Trail has been rerouted to the intersection of Sky Valley Road and Buck Forest Road to accommodate timber activity.

Barn Trail is closed.

Sandy Trail is closed.

The NC Forest Service plans to conduct additional prescribed burns during April 2024. These burns aim to reduce the risk of wildfire while enhancing habitat for native plants and animals. The timing of a prescribed burn depends on multiple factors, so short notice is necessary when choosing a day for a burn. Areas still targeted for spring 2024 prescribed burns include:
- Big Rock (DuPont State Recreational Forest)
- Short Cut Trail (Holmes Educational State Forest)
For your safety, please follow all posted trail closures, avoid areas involved in the prescribed burn and be aware that you will see and smell smoke in those areas.
